Get your account ready for long Instagram videos
Instagram is testing long landscape videos called Features. Here's what to know about them, why they matter to you, and a plan to get your content ready now.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced it on 26 October 2026, after years of saying Instagram is for short video. The idea: you post a short reel that is part of a long video, with a button under it that takes interested viewers to the full video, without leaving Instagram.
② Why does it matter to you?
- The reel is the shop window: it brings you new people who don't know you yet.
- The long video is inside the shop: it builds trust and convinces the customer to buy.
- The same followers: instead of starting from zero on YouTube, your current audience watches your long content in the same place.
- A reel is more honest than a thumbnail: people see a real sample before deciding to keep watching.
③ The plan: get ready now
- One topic a week: a question your customers keep asking that deserves a 10 to 20 minute explanation.
- Film in 16:9 landscape: keep your face in the middle so you can cut vertical reels from it later.
- Split it into sections: each section holds one complete idea that works as a reel on its own.
- Cut 3 to 5 reels from each long video, each starting with a strong hook.
- Every reel leads to the full video: once you get the feature, link the reels to the long video. Until then, post it on YouTube and put the link in your bio.
💡 The rule: every long video you film = a full week of reels. Film once, post every day.

🧪 Still a test: available in Brazil and to a small number of accounts in the US. No official date for other countries yet.
💰 No earnings yet: there is no ad revenue specific to long videos yet. The benefit for now is trust and sales, not view earnings.
